Driver Training Program
The OFSC, under Ministry Of Transportation authorization, offers a Driver Training Program to persons over 12 years of age on the date of the course.
409 Club Instructors teach the course under a structure set up within the OFSC.

Age -- 12 years old by the date of the course
Fee -- currently $30.00 set by the MTO to provide a self supporting program
Length of Course – minimum of 6 hours
Number of students – maximum of 20 at each training session
Course Material – is approved by the MTO
Course Content
- History and development of Snowmobiles
- Motorized snow vehicle laws of Ontario
- Trespass to property Act.
- Occupiers Liability Act
- General Features and Theory of operation of a Snowmobile
- Operation and general maintenance of a snowmobile
- Pre-ride inspection
- Procedure Trouble Shooting
- Operation of the snowmobile and recognizing hazards
- Snowmobile clothing
- Coping with emergencies and cold weather survival
- Promoting a more positive and responsible attitude and behaviour when operating a snowmobile
Upon successful completion of the course including a written exam, a
student is issued a Motorized Snow Vehicle Operator’s Licence. A motorized
Snow Vehicle Licence or a valid Drivers Licence is required to operate a
snowmobile off your own property.
